Case of Mackhnick Family Case Analysis

Case 1

Child psychological maltreatment refers to the practice of subjecting a child to conditions that adversely affect the normal psychological growth, development, and well being or health of the child (Miller-Perrin & Perrin, 2007). Yes, the Machnick family is committing child psychological maltreatment of their son Grady by subjecting him to neglect and conditions that are not favorable for his normal growth and well being. The subtype which best describes the Machnick family’s actions is child abuse. According to Kairys and Johnson (2002), the CPS can determine if child psychological maltreatment has occurred by asking those who are concerned or charged with the responsibility of caring for the child. Some of the intervention methods used by the government agencies to prevent child psychological treatment include punishing the perpetrators, putting a child in foster homes, and using the laws to protect the children.

Child neglect differs from child psychological maltreatment in that child neglect involves failure to take care of a child and provide them with the basic necessities of life while child psychological treatment entails subjecting a child to conditions that have impacts on their psychological well being.

Case 2

According to this case, child psychological treatment is defined as extreme incidents of caretaker that adversely affect the basic psychological development needs of a child. The physical abuse of the child by Grady's parents points to this type of maltreatment. They are subjecting him to conditions that only animals can withstand, such as taking away his belongings, forcing him to smell dog feces, asking him to use the outside bathroom, and making him sleep outside. All these are signs of child abuse and neglect. ......................GET A PLAGIARISM FREE COPY
