Culture-Media Review

Cultural experiences ensure that students gain knowledge regarding an issue. Engaging in a cultural issue can ensure that an individual develops his/her ability to make critical analyses. The experiences can be analysed in many ways including the observation of the sounds, which are part of the experience. It is good to realize that the aura surrounding an area is a rich source of information. The acoustic composition of a cultural event can be utilized to describe as well as analyse it.

This week I visited the cinema to watch a film. The movie is known as Django and it brings out the issue of slavery and rebellion. The cinema hall had several sounds before the movie began (Drobnick, 2004). People were murmuring in low tones that indicated they were excited. One could hear people thanking their friends for bringing them into the cinema hall to watch the movie. There were sounds of papers as different individuals settled down the seats with their snacks.

The sounds around the theatre as well as from the movie were inspiring. The movie had sounds of characters that brought out their personalities. Slaves were heard lamenting because of the hard life they were subjected to by their masters (LaBelle, 2010). It comes out that they would scream because of the whipping that was being meted out on them. There was the idea of calling people offensive names because of their ethnic backgrounds. To this, the audience reacted with sounds of disgust as well as anger.

As mentioned earlier, it is good to understand that the sounds made by the audience contributed to the experience. Here, different moments contributed to the sounds of the audience (Müller, 2012). Every person watching had reactions as far as particular scenes went. For instance, there was a moment that a slave could be seen whipping his masters. The audience reacted by cheering the individual in sounds akin to war cries. People clapped as the main character successfully rescued a woman who almost fell victim to a ruthless whipping experience.

Some scenes were emotional and they also elicited reactions from the audience. There was a particular experience where people that were deep in love underwent separation. One could hear some people in the audience sobbing (Tan, 2012). They could relate to the emotions of the characters that had a lot of sadness. The emotions of the characters in the movie resonated with those of the individuals in the theatre. Some people in the audience cursed at the enslavers as though they were close to them.................GET A PLAGIARISM FREE COPY
