Educational Philosophy Assignment
Educational Philosophy Paper
A teacher’s educational philosophy comprises a myriad of beliefs about teaching, the discipline, learning, the students, and teachers. The beliefs stem from individual experiences and reflections as a learner and student, from the theory of learning and teaching in higher education and the discipline, conducting a scholarship in learning and teaching, and faculty development activities with other educators. In this paper, I examine how the different influences, personal encounters and scholarly factors, have affected my educational philosophy and how the philosophy will impact my future teaching practice.
Years ago, I stepped into my first class as a child and had the first encounter with teaching that inspired me to become an educator. My learning experience was one to remember with an effective and caring English teacher who provided adequate attention to her students. Each learning stage has given me access to not only knowledge givers but also mentors and good friends that have nurtured my path towards education (More, 2015). Over the years, my love for teaching has grown despite the struggles that come with the learning and teaching process. There are instances when I felt that I would not be strong enough to stand before a group of students, but I have conquered the fears by exposing myself to numerous workshops and teaching attachments. I have learned to appreciate my students just as I was appreciated as a child and give them the love, care, skills, and knowledge they need to become successful adults.
The educational survey consisted of queries that tapped into various beliefs, such as the importance of assessments, analytical thinking, academic freedom, liberal arts, and the like. The results were not surprising because they revealed that I conform to the progressive philosophy of education. I scored an entire 40 points, the maximum for the survey, when it came to the progressive philosophy. ..................GET A PLAGIARISM FREE COPY
