Forgiveness Assignment

The issue of forgiveness triggers diverse debates in different people. It denotes the situation whereby a victim voluntarily shifts from being vengeful to an offender and embraces peace and love. It comes out that different people in the world have experienced abuse in many forms. Some have opted to accept forgiveness while others decide to remain vengeful. Even though some people argue against forgiveness, it is important to understand that it is the only way a victim can acquire peace of mind and live well with other human beings.

I believe that every human being has the moral obligation to forgive his/her enemies. The reason is because an individual who forgives gains peace of mind (Jolie). It is evident that if a person holds onto resentment, he/she deteriorates in many aspects of life. The person tends to interpret different issues in life according to the past degrading experiences (Zamperini). Forgiveness is a step towards living a fulfilling life.

I do not think there is weight in the counter argument against forgiveness. It comes out that the article, “Resentment’s virtue: Jean Amery and the refusal to forgive.” supports the issue of holding hatred towards perpetrators (H-Net). It is important to recognize that the issue makes a victim worse since he/she begins to look for ways to exert revenge. The individual may end up committing atrocities geared towards harming people if he/she does not access the person who hurt them (Zamperini 2). Therefore, holding on to resentment sees to it that an individual ends up harming innocent individuals. Forgiveness is the only act that guarantees peace to a victim as he/she waits upon the law to dispense justice.

Forgiveness is necessary in healing emotional wounds. People must ensure that they forgive the past to ensure that their lives are peaceful. Resentment causes the emotions of revenge to gather within a victim of unfortunate circumstances. Hatred can see an individual harm innocent people. The law must ensure that perpetrators are punished for their waywardness.........................GET A PLAGIARISM FREE COPY
