Gender Inequality Problem: Political Biasness essay
Gender Inequality Problem: Political Biasness paper
Gender inequality is a sensitive topic that appears to be endless in the long run. Whether all gender inequality problems will be exhausted or not remains elusive. Prejudice and discrimination are the major elements that facilitate gender inequality in the socialization process (Lauer & Lauer, 2018). One of the notable problems associated with gender inequality is political biasness. Even though the number of women politicians is increasing worldwide, most of them still face potential challenges that thwart the achievement of their political dreams across the globe.
Majority of women find it difficult to secure various political positions due to the discouragements and actions from agents of socialization, such as the media figures and the peers. Notably, the media figures have a notion that political posts best fit men rather than women; this is based on how the mass media addresses political issues (McGregor & Mourão, 2016). For instance, the media is fond of paying much attention to men politicians compared to women politicians. For many years, a woman has been viewed as an inferior gender to a man. Discrimination and prejudice that face women in the political world deter their progress.
Women who do not believe on other women subject to political leadership contribute in facilitating political biasness. Like men politicians, women politicians also need support from anyone else if they qualify for a certain political position. According to Mahadevappa (2012), women politicians need support from anyone else including their peers and other young and old women. The continued underrepresentation of women in politics is becoming a major gender inequality problem. Women should have a better, not necessarily equal, chance in politics.
In conclusion, political biasness that hinders political leadership of women courtesy of the mass media and a section of the public is a major gender inequality problem.........GET A PLAGIARISM FREE COPY
