Sheikha Al Mayassa is a champion of arts and culture from Qatar. She elaborates on the importance of culture as well as art from different parts of the world. She states that it is good to appreciate and respect arts from different cultural backgrounds. Arts and culture are the best media for people to appreciate foreign lands and people.

The themes of the talk are arts and culture. It comes out that arts and culture are among the most important aspects of a nation’s image. The concepts are usually blended with other phenomena in the process of modernization (TED, 2012). It comes out that technology in the Muslim world is mixed with culture to ensure that people connect to their identity. The phenomenon of globalization cannot exist without the transfer of cultures from region to region.

I have opinions regarding the argument fronted by the speaker. I agree with some parts of the logic and disagree with others. The speaker is right to state that the Arab world has been part of stereotypes for many years. When it comes to issues like wearing abayas, people in the western world assume it is a form of slavery (TED, 2012). However, Sheikha Al Mayassa affirms that the notion is misplaced. According to her, the abaya is a symbol of freedom and expression of cultural pride.

It is true that people especially in the western world misunderstand Muslims and Arabs in many instances. However, not all westerners are ignorant about Arabs and Muslims. People in the western world understand that being Arab is about race while Islam is a religion (TED, 2012). Many people in the United States and Europe admire the Arab culture.

Sheikha Al Mayassa is an outspoken advocate of the Arab culture. She respects arts from different parts of the world. She believes that people must be allowed to exercise their uniqueness through art. She believes that it is crucial to merge the Arab culture and technology in the domain of modernization.......................GET A PLAGIARISM FREE COPY
