Health Care Profiles and Plans for Change Essay

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 39.8 percent of all adults in the United States, were affected by obesity as per the 2015 to 2016 statistics. Obesity is linked to various chronic conditions, including certain types of cancer, diabetes type two, stroke, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases.  Most of these conditions are causes of premature death, yet preventable. The US incurs a total cost of $147 billion in medical costs on an annual basis. As such, it is important to consider putting in place proper measures to address this problem. Behavioral change models such as the Health Belief Model and the Trans-Theoretical Model provide tools through which behavioral change can be examined and effective measures put in place to facilitate success.
