Healthcare Reform Research Paper
For some time now, there has been a heated ongoing debate on the health care reform bill that was passed to the Senate for deliberation on May 4th, 2017. The healthcare reform suggested the repeal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) best known as the “ObamaCare” Act. The reforms pushed for the American Health Care Act (AHCA) best known as “Trumpcare” that pushed to repeal and replace most of what ACA suggested (Thomas & Robert, 2017). This was followed by a vote that eventually was passed and sent to the Senate. In the clauses of the AHCA, there were changes that were pushed for reforms from the current ACA that when passed, suggested a change in operation (in terms of healthcare) for employers. These acts only apply to those companies that have more than 50 full-time employees. As we will discuss, there are several effects that will be felt by employers and their health plans as the stage shifts from the Affordable Care Act to the American Health Care Act. But first, we will consider the acts that were included in the ACA.
When it comes to responsibility, the ACA ensured that those employers with more than 50 fulltime or full-time equivalent employees on their payroll took care of the health concerns arising in their businesses (Geisinger). It required of employers to provide a minimum essential health coverage for employees or face a penalty. The cover maintained should be to a standard level according to the business that allows for access to medical care by the employees without large overhead payments. The act also demands that employers provide inform their workers on the Marketplace coverage including how to get help regarding the Marketplace coverage. The penalty for not providing insurance cover will be a $2,000 bill for every employee that does not have a cover. Any failure to cover 60% or create an affordable cover will be penalized a $3,000 bill for any employee that will be forced to pay credit. Finally, all employers who have given full-time jobs to more than 200 employees must take covers for all of them otherwise a penalty is in store for them. ............GET AN AFFORDABLE PLAGIARISM FREE COPY
