Morality involves the issues of judging whether an individual’s decisions, actions as well as intentions are good or evil. People have different perceptions regarding the idea of morality. The reason is because of the difference in the backgrounds of people. A person’s beliefs determine his/her moral undertakings. The definition of right or wrong is shaped by different life experiences and the environment within which an individual lives.
Every person has a foundation as far as his/her moral beliefs are involved. It comes out that the foundations of an individual’s moral beliefs are anchored in their deep set beliefs regarding different life issues (De Waal, 2009). Therefore, people cannot see life from the same point of view. Consequently, the behaviors and choices of different people portray numerous differences (Roe, 2015). As mentioned earlier, people hold different beliefs regarding the definition of right or wrong. The concept of morality can never be looked upon from one perspective.
The beliefs and ideas that people hold regarding morality are influenced by different life issues. For instance, they could be influenced by the economy, past experiences and the environment (Roe, 2015). Religious issues could also influence the beliefs of an individual and how he/she views life. A person could be influenced to believe certain issues by environmental conditions (De Waal, 2009). Here, family members or friends could shape what an individual believes is right or wrong. The phenomenon could be through the ideas that are repeated many times until they are accepted as holding some truth.
I do not think that other people have the same moral beliefs or ideas as themselves. The reason is because they grew up in different surroundings (Roe, 2015). Over their lifetimes, they have interacted with different people and educational experiences that have shaped what they believe regarding morality (De Waal, 2009).
