Organizational structure is the model with which a firm is divided so that its operations can flow smoothly. An organization may adopt different organizational structures to support its functions and make it easier to achieve the business objectives. Some significant organizational structures include the functional, divisional, matrix and flat organizations structures (Jones, 2013). I am very familiar with the functional and the matrix organization structures since they are applied in the organization where I work. The functional structure arranges the functions of an organization according to the specialty of the staff in each department. The matrix structure combines several characteristics since there are several bosses in the organization and the employees are answerable to different bosses. Organizational structures are vital as they help in providing an organization with administrative and human resource guidelines that lead to a smooth flow of operations (Ashkenas, Ulrich, Jick, & Kerr, 2015).

Decision making is centralized in this organization, and thus only the top management is involved in decision making processes. Thus decision making may just be influenced by the head of departments in the organizations since they are the only people allowed to join the Board of governors (Sharma, Mithas, & Kankanhalli, 2014). The primary responsibility of the council and the board of governors is to make decisions, which are very critical for the success of the organization. The committee is also responsible for carrying out administrative functions in the organization, such as supervising and implementing the laws governing the firm. The organization have a formal leadership where all the staff must follow a particular set of guidelines when answering to their supervisors (Wheelen, Hunger, Hoffman, & Bamford, 2017).
