Public Speaking Paper

Most individuals who are great in public speaking can attest to the fact that exposure and adequate preparation are key to overcoming nervousness while giving a presentation. I have not had much experience in public speaking, so I genuinely feel the pressure and fear to give a speech in front of an audience. I agree with you that the anxiety has faded over time because as a child, I would literally shake while giving a presentation. I have learned the art of composure with age. I also do a lot of positive self-talk where I encourage myself before and during the speech. However, in business, it goes without saying that confidence and self-awareness are necessary before convincing buyers, clients, and other interested parties to invest in a company’s ideas. Nervousness affects the credibility of the individual and his or her perspectives. People will tend to side with persons who value themselves and exude confidence in all their undertakings (Carnegie, 2017).

Nervousness during public speaking is a common aspect amongst people, especially, in today’s environment where individuals do not get adequate face-to-face interactions due to the emergence of cell phones and the Internet. However, I believe that a bit of anxiety before making a presentation is beneficial because it challenges a person to create a good speech. He or she will be interested in moving the audience, speaking clearly, arranging ideas systematically, learning the environment before-hand, amongst others. For me, the little knot in my tummy or the slight twitching keeps me on my toes and encourages me to interact with the audience so that I can stop fearing them. However, I do not think the same can be said for people who are making a presentation in front of their bosses or elite individuals. There is the genuine fear of being challenged or failing to convince the persons to buy into your ideas..............GET A PLAGIARISM FREE COPY
