Safety of Play Equipment paper

The demand for safety has increased because of the high number of children’s injuries while on the playground in schools. Parents are troubled by the knowledge that their children might return home while playing in school. Due to this public outcry and concern, the department of education together with other stakeholders have established measures to decrease the accident cases.

Maria has noted with a lot of concern that a highly-priced recently acquired play equipment has caused several accidents almost daily. There is a need to determine whether the equipment is installed for the right group of learners with respect to their ages (Click & Karkos, 2013). For the school to find out whether the equipment is age appropriate, it can choose to establish a progress report in which daily occurrences at the equipment will be recorded with the entry against the age of the student (Click & Karkos, 2013). After some time, the records should be reviewed and analyzed with regard to age to determine if it should remain with these children or taken to a higher level.

Maria, however, needs to communicate her fears to the director before it raises concern from the parents and stakeholders of the program (Click & Karkos, 2013). Since Maria is in charge of the 11-year old children, she should visit the director’s office with a summary of the issues she has noted with the new play equipment and some suggestions of how to solve the problems without getting rid of the costly equipment.
