The EHR systems have positive effects on the performance of hospitals because they improve patients’ outcomes. However, their implementation is a complex undertaking that requires the critical intervention of the management so that the healthcare staff can embrace the changes (Marceglia et al., 2015). The process requires significant finances to cater for the equipment, resources, and training. While the HER systems are efficient, some are unfriendly and limited in performance. They interfere with the patients and physicians relationships. As such they have elicited uncertainty and mistrust from these parties. Physicians feel that the system adds to their workload rather than reducing it. For this reason, they seem to resist their full implementation.

While working as an administrator in this scenario, there is a need for strong leadership skills that will help communicate about a shared vision to the hospital staff. It will be essential to not only rely on efficiency, quality, and safety that the patients will acquire from the system, but also about how it will strengthen the hospital's core mission. The administrators will, therefore, convey the importance of the system to the organization which will ultimately lead to better outcomes for the staff.
