The 1960 U.S presidential election Paper

The 1960 U.S presidential election was between Senator John F. Kennedy and vice president Richard Nixon. It was the closest election in the history of the United States. The candidates discussed many issues including the unfolding of the cold war and the nation’s economy. In the capacity of President Dwight Eisenhower, I would have cast my vote for Senator Kennedy to ensure that the nation won the cold war and rebuilt its economy.

If I were a historical figure like president Dwight D. Eisenhower I would have voted John F. Kennedy for president. Regardless of the criticism he received from his adversary Vice president Richard Nixon, I would have ensured that I support President Kennedy’s campaign. It is important to note that he made an interesting argument regarding the cold war (JFK Library). According to President Kennedy, Vice president Nixon had failed in the quest of dealing with the Soviet Union.

The United States had undergone losses in the cold war. The losses were economic and also involved the pride of the nation. The United States had lost a plane that was shot down in the Soviet Union. The army officials of the air force had been sent to spy on the Soviet Union. They were caught and the United States underwent humiliation. The issues saw to it that the youth would have little confidence in their nation (Miller Center).

The election involved a large proportion of youths.  The youth were thus a crucial aspect in the election. The election of President Kennedy would restore the hope of the United States’ youth population in their country. They would gain pride which would see them attain the zeal to rebuild their nation (JFK Library). They would carry that spirit into the future since they were to take over the nation in the years before them. Therefore, electing President John F. Kennedy would be the best decision at the time.

The United States was facing a communist threat that President Kennedy promised to tackle successfully.  The undertaking would ensure that the founding ideas of the United States would continue flourishing. The inalienable right of democracy would be common to all Americans at a time that the nation had many enemies (Miller Center). A Kennedy presidency would ensure that no individual undermined the pride of the nation....................GET A PLAGIARISM FREE COPY
