The Great Wall of China was built to ensure that the nation was protected from invaders. The enemies came from the north with the intention of invading and conquering China. Mongols had the tendency to invade China and perform raids on the nation (Airpano, 2019). It also had the intention of ensuring that Chinese citizens were kept from leaving their homeland. It has a length of 8,850 km. However, in the past its length was 21,196 km (NASA, 2018). The wall’s height varies in regard to the part it is located within. Here, it comes out that the wall has an average height of 6.6m. However, in other areas the wall reaches 10 meters when it comes to height. The wall was created in many phases and using different materials. The initial sections of the walls were constructed using mud whereby the material was later replaced with stones.
