The homeland, Aztlan-Article Review

“The homeland, Aztlan,” by Gloria Anzaldua talks about the issue of Mexicans who were forcefully chased from the United States. The article proves that Chicanos owned south west United States which they called Aztlan since it is their original homeland. The individuals were attacked by Anglo-Saxons from Europe who forced their language upon the indigenes. It comes out that White people took over half of Mexico and integrated it into the United States. The United States used war and intimidation to drive away the Chicanos from their homeland in the south west part of the country.

As mentioned earlier, the topic of the article is clear. The article focuses on the issue of how the land of south west United States was forcefully taken away from Chicanos (Anzaldúa 23). The Europeans forced their language and culture on the people. The article utilizes historical evidence to ensure that the invasion of Europeans is proven. The author utilizes the accounts of different Chicano individuals regarding their experiences in the United States.

The article concludes that the United States forcefully took over half of Mexican territory through violence. The article also argues that the Mexican culture was diminished in favor of Anglo-Saxon ideals. I agree with the author because there is enough evidence that south west United States belonged to Mexico and the Chicanos. The article shows how the whites took over California and the states of New Mexico, Texas, Colorado and areas like Arizona (Anzaldúa 29). Therefore, it is justified to conclude that the south western part of the United States is the original homeland of the Chicanos..................GET A PLAGIARISM FREE COPY
