Why HIV Rates Are High in African American Communities Assignment
Why HIV Rates Are High in African American Communities Research Paper
I found the article from the internet. The article indicates that African American communities are mostly infected with HIV/AIDS in the United States. The main cause of the infection is social injustice, lack of effective response by the government and poverty. The article also claims that the infection increases due to fear of the communities to face stigmatization. Also, in the urban centers of the African American Communities, HIV infection is high due to the dense population and great turnover rate.
I, therefore, think that the claims made by the article are correct. It is because the increase of HIV/AIDS infection in the African American communities is the main reason why these people continue to become poorer. They end up using more of their resources treating themselves instead of improving their standards of living. Eventually, most of these people end up being depressed because most of them may be unemployed. I hence think that government should fund various health programs to help address the epidemic. People should be advised on the proper ways of living such as abstinence and the use of condoms to ensure that there is a decrease in the rates of infection of the disease.
HIV/AIDS as a current health event is related to the community/public health in that it requires efforts by organizations and agencies to prevent the spread of the disease thus prolong life. Through such efforts, the health status of the African American communities will be improved. However, we should know that HIV/AIDS is a severe pandemic and when not addressed, it increases the vulnerability of the individuals to be infected with other diseases. Eventually, many of the individuals end up dying because of the weak immune systems...........GET AN AFFORDABLE PLAGIARISM FREE COPY
